Are you someone who struggles with procrastination? Do you strive for perfection in everything you do, only to find that you can never reach it, and end up feeling frustrated and overwhelmed? Or Do you find yourself putting off tasks until the last minute?

If so, you’re not alone. It's a common problem that can be caused by a variety of factors, including perfectionism, fear of failure, and low self-esteem.

Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to overcome procrastination and get back on track. In this blog post, we'll share five of the most effective strategies for overcoming procrastination.

1. Understand your procrastination triggers

The first step to overcoming procrastination is to understand what triggers it for you. What are the thoughts, emotions, or situations that cause you to start procrastinating? Once you know your triggers, you can start to work on addressing them.

2. Set realistic goals

If you're constantly setting goals that are impossible to achieve, or try to do everything at once or make your goals unattainably perfect, try not to. Break down your goals in small, manageable pieces that you can realistically achieve.

3. Break down large tasks into smaller ones

Looking at a huge task is often overwhelming, so break down the task into small milestones to then achieve the large task. For example, say your goal is to drop 10kgs. Instead of focusing on the 10kg, focus on the daily achievements and the weekly weight loss of say .5 to 1g per week. Small manageable tasks help you stay focused and also can give you a sense of achievement, as you venture forward.

4. Give yourself permission to make mistakes

Unfortunately, things will go wrong and you will make mistakes, your human, so don’t beat yourself up and blow everything out of proportion, take a step back and calm down so your then able to forgive yourself and this in turn this will give you the permission to just move on. Remember, nobody is perfect.

5. Find a role model or mentor/coach

Being able to talk in an open and confidential setting, with constructive feedback is one of the best ways to quickly resolve any blockers that may be holding you back.

If you can learn to overcome procrastination and perfectionism, you’ll be well on your way to a more productive and successful life.
